Share and Share Alike — An Occasional Refuge When the Muse is Fickled, Part 2

I was thinking that I’d write something on the Rapture Rupture scheduled for tomorrow at 6:00 PM, but I’m just not feeling the snark today and Jim Wright over at Stonekettle Station has a very funny post: Ten Reasons Why Doomsday Will Be Awesome!, so wander on over there if you need a giggle. Updated: Or you can watch the following video: The Rapture by somegreybloke. (Hat tip to The Daily Dish)

Having roots in the hills of western Virginia, I have a soft spot for the Appalachian Mountains and the folks who live there. Blue Virginia has a post on the independent investigation of the disaster at Massey Energy’s Upper Big Branch Mine in West Virginia last year. The report concludes: “the disaster at Upper Big Branch was man-made and could have been prevented.” I think some indictments and prison time would be justified but, if  “SNAFU” reigns supreme, unlikely.

Another good post at Blue Virginia highlights continuing conservative attempts to dominate the publishing industry, see Some Liberty, More Conservative Consolidation Inroads Against a Free and Open Press.

Crooks and Liars has a post and Live Chat with AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, including a press release on Trumka’s speech at The National Press Club today in which he “focuses his ire on the widening gulf between U.S. workers and the wealthy — attaching particular blame to politicians who value ideology over morality.” Take a look.

  1. Ahab says:

Good video. We do need to be considerate of those who will be left behind by the Rapture, so turning off appliances is a good idea.

Wait. It’s May 22nd. And we’re still here!
